November 1, 2012 - Nashville, Tennessee - Professional Credential Services, Inc. ("PCS") is excited to announce the successful transition from paper-pencil examinations to computerized examinations to over 1,900 candidates in Puerto Rico, together with its Computer Based Testing partner, IQT. These candidates were tested within a two-week period at three different testing centers across Puerto Rico from October 15-October 27, 2012 for eleven (11) licensing boards and represent over twenty-seven examination types. Following the testing period, PCS asked candidates to complete a survey on-line so that it could effectively monitor the quality of testing for candidates in Puerto Rico. Additionally, so that PCS can make any necessary adjustments prior to the next testing window.
Candidates were also given the opportunity to provide written comments. 1,696 candidates elected to participate in the survey. By and large, almost everyone that tested was satisfied, pleased and even thankful for this positive, progressive step related to their examinations. Traditionally, these exams have been administered via paper/pencil in only one location in Puerto Rico.
Candidates were given a longer window of time from which to choose to test and were also able to choose from additional locations. Of those that were not completely satisfied, the reasons most cited were that location directions were inadequate, not enough parking was provided, momentary Internet interruptions (not terribly uncommon in Puerto Rico) were experienced, or that noise was a concern. A very few commented on specific test questions.
In addition, for the first time, candidates were able to apply on-line for these examinations. All except six (6) applicants were able to provide email addresses, which allowed candidates to apply and to register for the examinations on-line. There were some who expressed this (lack of email addresses and online registration and/or computer-based testing) as a concern going into this project. The statistics from the comments received seem to address and to completely put to rest these concerns. Jeff Blake, PCS' Chief Operating Officer, said, "We very much appreciate the opportunity to offer computer based testing in Puerto Rico. I am very proud of our PCS team and our partners for making this testing window a success." Gustavo Rodriguez, PCS' PR Project Manager, had this to say: "A lot of hard work and many hours have gone into this project. In the end, PCS and IQT were able to combine forces and launch a successful examination. Special thanks to everyone that was involved."
PCS would be pleased to help you transition your paper-pencil examinations to computer-based testing. Give us a call!
